Morning View Oasis: From Concrete Yard to Luxury Outdoor Retreat
Listening to the Vision
During our initial meeting, we talked through the couple's goals and desires. The husband shared his passion for golf, sparking the idea to incorporate a putting green into the design. His eyes lit up at the prospect, and we knew we were onto something special. From that moment, our mission was clear: create an outdoor environment that combined fun, functionality, and aesthetics.
Breaking Ground: Starting from Scratch
The existing space presented several challenges, primarily an outdated and cracked concrete surface. It was clear that to bring this vision to life, we needed to start fresh. We began by removing all of the old concrete, taking the space back to its foundation. This was the first step in laying down a new, more visually appealing surface that would set the stage for all the other elements.
Crafting the Details: Stamped Concrete and Turf
The next phase involved laying new concrete, but we didn't stop at basic gray slabs. To give the space a touch of sophistication, we opted for stamped concrete, which not only added texture but also helped create a cohesive and upscale look. The stamped pattern harmonized perfectly with the surrounding design elements, adding depth and interest to the overall space.
For the husband's personal touch, we installed a state-of-the-art artificial turf putting green. Designed to blend seamlessly with the rest of the landscape, the putting green became the focal point of the yard—a space for practice, relaxation, and entertainment.
Architectural Enhancements: New Roof and Pergolas
An exterior remodel is about more than just what lies on the ground; the entire structure needs to speak the same design language. We updated the roof, ensuring that the house itself matched the newly modernized landscape. To enhance the functionality of the space, we added two custom pergola arbors outside the sliding doors. These not only offered much-needed shade but also framed the entrances beautifully, creating a welcoming transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Bringing Light and Comfort to the Outdoors
No outdoor space is complete without the right lighting and climate control. To make this yard as usable by night as by day, we installed sleek, modern exterior light fixtures that provided warm, inviting illumination. Knowing that La Mesa's summer heat can be relentless, we added ceiling fans to the pergolas, ensuring that the space would remain cool and comfortable even on the hottest days. These fans became essential for extending the time our clients could enjoy their new oasis, from morning coffee to evening gatherings.
Final Touches: The Heart of the Backyard
The combination of these elements created a backyard that was not only visually stunning but also highly functional. The putting green brought a playful, personal touch that connected with the client’s passion, while the pergolas and stamped concrete added a sophisticated flair. The updated lighting and fans made the space welcoming and comfortable for hosting friends or enjoying peaceful evenings with family.
The Morning View project perfectly captures our commitment to listening to clients and bringing their ideas to life with high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. Whether it’s adding personal features like a putting green or creating architectural upgrades that change the look and feel of a home, our goal is to craft spaces that reflect the clients’ lifestyle and enhance their outdoor living experience.
